Band deadlifts are a great tool to help improve a lifters start position, transition and lockout.
The most commonly seen use of bands in deadlifts are when the bands are attached to a board or floor directly BELOW the bar making the load heavier as the lifter deadlifts.
This approach works in a similar way during the lift, but has a more direct effect on the way the lifter uses their lats due to the band being placed in FRONT of the bar.
By having to pull bar against the shins, the tension in the band increases forcing the lifter to pull harder to stop the bar drifting away.
It also forces the lifter to lean back and push through their heels which in turn makes for a more effective deadlift.
Try this one if you find the bar drifts away from you during the lift or you fall forwards on the front of your feet
